FEATURED VARIETAL

SYRAH: A relative newcomer to Washington State, the Syrah grape has seen a substantial increase in acreage in the past few years. Syrah is just one of the Rhone varieties gaining popularity in Washington State. A spicy, rich, complex varietal, Syrah grapes turn into big, dark, intensely concentrated wines with aromas and flavors of blackberries, black currants, roasted coffee, tobacco and leather.

The Washington Beef Commission & Double R Ranch features Lisa Dupar Catering at the Washington Beef Bar. They will be sampling Bourbon braised beef short ribs. Pair this delectable dish with a Washington Syrah blend. Try to find a wine that has Grenache and Mourvedre blended with a Syrah . These three varietals together will include notes of black pepper, sweet red fruit and a touch of game that will echo the flavors of the short ribs. The acid in Syrah will help cut through the rich flavors of the short ribs while the power of the Granache will hold up to the Bourbon flavor.
